Learning processes is about a passion. While you have a strong desire, then all of your resources shall be work to achieve this goal. And the important point is, ask to God to give us an easier understanding to all of stuff we learn about.

This is my activity while learning common ERP and ADempiere:

• Improve skills and knowledge at common business processes
  With our working experience, I was starting my career and worked at a banking industry as a junior administration staff. During this tenure, I have learned a lot of things related with basic and intermediate accounting. As a bank employee, I am earning a lot of banking system operational and procedure by attending its educational program.

  Six years later, I tried to find a new challenging task to be working as an Information Technology staff. For the first 3 years, I worked as a junior developer at this company. With this years, I found many things to improve our analytical skills to build a better software using Borland Delphi. The good things comes then. I was introduced to the ERP system and this ERP is Intentia Movex and or Lawson M3 (Intentia successor). Our company try to implement this system, and we have a couple of Intentia Movex/Lawson M3 consultant in house (external consultant).

  With previous assignment, I just a programmer. But, for the ERP it self, I have a responsibility to handle a second level support of functional module like accounting, manufacturing and logistic after our primary internal consultant. Okay, for accounting parts, I can follow it. The problems then comes while talking manufacturing and logistic parts. Oh my God, I have no experience at all! Attending manufacturing and logistic sessions are a nightmare. I have no industrial engineering background.

  Struggling with this condition, and try to keep attending this session, gradually I know about ‘what they are talking about’. This is invaluable experience. With all of ERP activities, then I have a knowledge about how business running.

  In the middle of ERP implementation, our company implemented a project management software, Fastreact. Again, this is great experience, because I just appointed as an internal Fastreact consultant.

  Then, for my reference, I was studied ADempiere both for accounting, costing and manufacturing parts.

• Getting involved in the ADempiere forum
  At first, I do not know exactly about what is ADempiere. Asking in the forum and then somebody just replied.

  While learning ADempiere, there are so many ‘undocumented’ features. Almost all of ADempiere features or bug fixing, will be discusses at the forum. Like another beginners, for the first time, I just try to join to ADempiere forum and start reading a conversation thread. I know the habit of the forum then.

  Later, I am trying to answer a question which I have a knowledge on the issues.

• Join to their chat room
  Say hello to ADempiere follower here (irc.freenode.net server with #adempiere channel room). And sometimes, you can discuss anything live with ADempiere developer and supporters. Remember, this is not aimed to get a fast support/replied.

  With joining in this room, learning processes will be there. We can discuss a thing with others with their leisure time.

• Learning technical from experts
  They are so many reference out there. While we have a programming background, try to read this one. I learned a lot off stuff about how to getting your hand dirty with ADempiere java coding stuff. And the interesting point is, we do not need to become Java expert to work with. Basic java knowledge is okay.

  Later, try to check out last trunk of ADempiere also. While there are any bug fixing committed, examine about what they have done and you will have an idea about how things work.

  With times to come, I could learn about how internal ADempiere working. We know about how accounting engine works and starting to engage with Libero manufacturing codes. With this knowledge, I tried to create a patch or help others.

• Share knowledge
  After all, I have tried to share about what is our ADempiere finding or experience. Try to write with my style. This is so important stage. Just try to inform our knowledge will not kill our knowledge. In return, everybody out there will known our contribution and we might receive a feedback from others. And then more great opportunity to come
